Along with an American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) credential, the medical coding certificate prepares you for jobs in all types of medical facilities, inpatient and outpatient, and other industry-related positions such as insurance companies and government agencies.

Health information technology (HIT) professionals with an associate degree pursue registration through the AHIMA as Registered Health Information Technicians (RHIT). RHITs are responsible for the quality of patient health information in acute care hospitals, physician offices and other outpatient facilities.

Students in this program study diagnosis and procedure coding, health information management, healthcare reimbursement, legal aspects of health information, and health information technology.

The Health Care Management program includes courses in anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology with pharmacology, medical terminology, ICD-9-CM and ICD-9-CM coding, ICD-10-PCS coding, CPT and HCPCS coding, as well as reimbursement methodologies. Legal aspects of health care management are covered, as well as information technology and health information management.

The Sullivan University Health Care Management program promotes student success by focusing on engagement between faculty and students, teaching with primary resources, and encouraging students to use critical thinking to solve problems.

The Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Nursing with an Emphasis in Nursing Leadership in Health Care Systems (Dual Degree) is designed to afford experienced nurses having completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with the opportunity to develop cross-functional business management skills and leadership competences appropriate to preparing individuals in the nursing and health care fields for advanced management and executive positions.

This masters in nursing leadership and management program goes beyond patient care and studies the business side of health care by examining the costs, how to set and maintain a budget, and the management of workforce challenges. Graduates of this degree may be prepared to either fulfill an entrepreneurial goal and start their own health company or move into a leadership role within a health care organization, such as Chief Nursing Officer, VP of Patient Services, or Chief Executive Officer.

The following topics are included in the masters in nursing leadership and management: leadership theory and application, finance, accounting, economics, quantitative methods, marketing management, managerial accounting, managerial finance, operations management, and ethics in the healthcare system. Other courses examine nursing as a profession and a discipline and the role of the nurse as a vital member of the interprofessional team providing patient-centered care. - Provide official documentation of high school graduation or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) if applying with less than 24 semester credit hours completed at an accredited institution.

- Provide official transcripts of all colleges and universities previously attended or presently attending.
- Schools must be listed in chronological order, including dual enrollment.

- Credit hours earned from regionally accredited schools will automatically be evaluated for transfer hours as part of the formal application process.
