Online Health Care Administration Degree :: Accredited Universities

This specialization will provide you with valuable knowledge and skills training in the business side of health care. You will explore financial management, legal and ethical issues of health care, and the process of examining and developing health care policies. You will also complete a final written research project that demonstrates your ability to conduct an investigation on a workplace problem and recommend a plan of preventative action. As a Health Care Administration graduate, you may choose to apply for positions in hospitals, health maintenance organizations, health insurance companies, government and public health agencies and social service agencies.

Entry Requirements

There are two options for entering a master of business administration program (MBA) in the School of Business and Technology Management

Direct Entry: Individuals with a previously completed bachelor's degree in business from a regionally or nationally accredited academic institution may immediately begin the MBA program.

Evaluation Track: Individuals who do not meet direct entry requirements would begin their degree plan with SKS5000-8 prior to taking the remaining courses in their degree plan.

This specialization is designed to help you develop essential perspectives and skills for application of theoretical and research-based health care industry management issues. You will explore strategic planning in health care and managed systems, comparative health care system analysis, and examine strategies related to total quality management in health care. You will also develop skills in problem identification and resolution, analysis and intervention as administrative issues, and recognition of the constraints and limitations to intervention and change in delivery systems. As a graduate, you will be able to demonstrate real-world application of knowledge and skills in both public and private health care management settings.

In order to enter the doctoral (DBA and PhD) programs in business administration, applicants must have earned a master's degree from an accredited university. There are two options for entering a doctoral program in business administration:

A generalized business area such as business management or business administration OR
A specialized business area (e.g., Master of Finance, Master of Human Resources Management) AND an undergraduate degree in business

Evaluation Track: Individuals not meeting the direct entry requirements must have their transcripts evaluated to determine if previous coursework meets some or all of the Standard Curriculum requirements. Students in the Evaluation Track would begin their degree plan with SKS7000-8 and then take all required Standard Curriculum courses prior to taking the remaining courses in their degree plan.
