Show More The Later in Life Studies MSc at University of the West of Scotland (UWS) has a wide application including older people, carers and a range of health, social and third sector professionals who work with or support people in their later life years. It is designed to provide graduates from a range of disciplines with a rigorous education in the many complex health and social care issues affecting older people. The programme may be studied entirely online from anywhere in the world or based at Hamilton campus taking a blended learning approach. Changing demographics have focused attention on later life on a global scale with rising numbers reflected internationally and bringing both opportunities and challenges. The positive aspects around the survival of so many into older age and their increasing role in development is tempered by the increasing numbers of frail and vulnerable older people. The course is designed to equip professionals with an in-depth knowledge and the critical perspective needed to plan, practice in partnership, manage and lead high-quality services and interventions for older people. Students will be enabled to:
Close links with, and regular input from older people plus ageing, social policy, and healthcare academics and practitioners offer students from a range of disciplines relevant and current insight into issues affecting ageing and older people.
