Individuals who choose this field research an organization and make recommendations for business valuation, mergers and acquisitions, economic analysis and forecasts.

Entry Requirements

Applicants who are admitted into any master's degree program have met the following admission requirements:

1. Have an earned bachelor's degree (or highest degree earned) and a minimum GPA of 2.5 from a college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or its international equivalent).

2. For School of Business Master's programs only - JIU may conditionally admit students in this program if the student's official transcript GPA is between 2.0 and 2.49. JIU will grant full admission to a student only if the student achieves a 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA for all first term courses attempted. Students who are not granted full admission are not considered to have demonstrated that they meet the minimum GPA required for their program of study and are subject to immediate dismissal from JIU.

International Applicants

International applicants who are admitted into any graduate degree program have met the following admission requirements:

1. Completion of post-secondary education (bachelors degree); translated and evaluated to U.S. equivalency by an approved credential evaluator with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

- 3-year undergraduate degrees earned outside the U.S. are accepted if an approved credential evaluator declares the degree equivalent to an earned U.S. bachelors degree.

- For School of Business Master's programs only - JIU may conditionally admit students in this program if the student's official transcript GPA is between 2.0 and 2.49. JIU will grant full admission to a student only if the student achieves a 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA for all first term courses attempted. Students who are not granted full admission are not considered to have demonstrated that they meet the minimum GPA required for their program of study and are subject to immediate dismissal from JIU.

2. English Language Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate sufficient English language skills for admission into a JIU degree program by meeting one or more of the following criteria:

- Test of English as a Foreign Language (link is external) (TOEFL®): Evidence of having scored at least 61 on the Internet-based Test (iBT™), 173 on the Computer-based Test (CBT), or 500 on the Paper-based Test (PBT). Results must be sent directly from the testing service by selecting JIU as the recipient along with entering our Designation Code (DI) of 7463, OR

- International English Language Testing System (link is external) (IELTS): Reading and writing band scores must be 5.5 or higher with no band less than 5.0. Results must be sent to JIU directly from the testing service, OR

- Earned U.S. Bachelors degree from a college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

CSU's Intelligence Analysis program is intended to provide intelligence professionals, whether they are in law enforcement, national security, public or private sectors with the opportunity to undertake studies at postgraduate level in the area of intelligence through CSU's Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security (AGSPS).

These courses are designed particularly to meet the growing needs of the public and private sectors that increasingly require effective intelligence analysis to support decision-making in a rapidly changing security environment. The subjects in the course cover a range of areas relevant to promoting sound industry relevant practice in the intelligence office.

Specific areas include but are not limited to the following; an understanding of criminology and criminal justice, strategic, operational and tactical intelligence theory and practice, crime analysis, critical thinking, analytical tools and tradecraft, contemporary professional debates, advanced research skills, imagery and geo-spatial intelligence, risk management and national security issues.

Master of Arts (Intelligence Analysis)

The Master of Arts aims to produce graduates capable of successfully completing a research dissertation or a special studies project which results in a distinct contribution to knowledge in the intelligence field. Students can also choose free electives at Master level from either the terrorism safety and security, leadership, investigations, fraud and financial crime prevention, emergency management or anti-money laundering / counter terrorism financing programs.

This course articulates with the Graduate Diploma of Intelligence Analysis and normally students would complete these subjects first before moving on to complete the Master of Arts (Intelligence Analysis).

Students who have satisfactorily completed the Graduate Diploma requirements with a credit average are eligible to apply for admission to the Master of Arts (Intelligence Analysis).

Applicants need to satisfy one or more of the following criteria:

be working as an intelligence practitioner in a law enforcement, national security, regulatory or commercial agency

demonstrate professional experience in one or more practitioner contexts (strategic, operational, or tactical intelligence)

have completed a relevant CSU intelligence short course or an industry-based course recognised by CSU

hold an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in criminology, justice or security studies

satisfy the Course Coordinator of other skills or professional qualifications for eligibility.

Entry Requirements

Regulations of the Faculty of Graduate Studies govern admissions. Admission is approved by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, on the recommendation of the School of Business Administration. Applicants must hold a degree recognized by Dalhousie University as the equivalent of a four-year Bachelor's Degree in one of its own faculties or an institution recognized by Dalhousie University. The minimum requirement is a B average (GPA 3.0 on a 4.3 scale). Applicants must also have a least five years relevant professional experience.
