It is performed by analyzing ratios that make use of information taken from financial statements and other reports. The role of a financial analyst is to use spreadsheets and financial ratios to analyze account activity and highlight strengths and weaknesses of a business. For those interested in professional certification, students who graduate from JIU with an MBA in Financial Analysis are eligible under the education requirement of the American Academy of Financial Management™ (AAFM (link is external)™) for the Chartered Market Analyst CMA™ credentials. This Master of Business Administration in Financial Analysis program will appeal to managers and analysts who seek to expand their knowledge of corporate finance and financial analysis and for those interested in financial analysis and financial consulting. Individuals who choose this field research an organization and make recommendations for business valuation, mergers and acquisitions, economic analysis and forecasts. Entry RequirementsApplicants who are admitted into any master's degree program have met the following admission requirements: 1. Have an earned bachelor's degree (or highest degree earned) and a minimum GPA of 2.5 from a college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or its international equivalent). 2. For School of Business Master's programs only - JIU may conditionally admit students in this program if the student's official transcript GPA is between 2.0 and 2.49. JIU will grant full admission to a student only if the student achieves a 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA for all first term courses attempted. Students who are not granted full admission are not considered to have demonstrated that they meet the minimum GPA required for their program of study and are subject to immediate dismissal from JIU.
International Applicants International applicants who are admitted into any graduate degree program have met the following admission requirements: 1. Completion of post-secondary education (bachelors degree); translated and evaluated to U.S. equivalency by an approved credential evaluator with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. - 3-year undergraduate degrees earned outside the U.S. are accepted if an approved credential evaluator declares the degree equivalent to an earned U.S. bachelors degree. - For School of Business Master's programs only - JIU may conditionally admit students in this program if the student's official transcript GPA is between 2.0 and 2.49. Results must be sent directly from the testing service by selecting JIU as the recipient along with entering our Designation Code (DI) of 7463, OR - International English Language Testing System (link is external) (IELTS): Reading and writing band scores must be 5.5 or higher with no band less than 5.0. Results must be sent to JIU directly from the testing service, OR - Earned U.S. Bachelors degree from a college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
