This course, is validated by Bournemouth University and delivered at Met Film School, consists of a series of units led by experienced filmmaking practitioners. The course enables candidate to complete a portfolio of six short films, plus a Master’s research or production project accompanied by an exhibition.

The course is divided into eight units;

Drama Production
Production for the Small Screen
Feature Film Production
Documentary Practice
Thinking Beyond: Experimental Film Conception & Creation
Working with Genre
The final Master’s research or production project
Followed by a compulsory exhibition.
The course enables candidate to develop a theoretical framework based on broader conceptual issues that will inform candidate's research and filmmaking practice. Candidate's projects will contribute to candidate's showreel, demonstrating candidate's individual voice as an advanced-level filmmaker. When candidate have successfully completed the first six units of the programme will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Filmmaking, when candidate have completed all eight units candidate will be awarded the MA in Filmmaking.

Entry Requirements

A first degree (BA/BSc) in a relevant subject area.

International Students

Appropriate entry requirements include:

International Foundation Year - see the Bournemouth University International Foundation Certificate (BUIFC)
High school leaving examinations considered to be of an equivalent level to Advanced Level examinations in the UK
International or European Baccalaureate Junior College Diploma English Language Requirements
If English is not candidate's first language, candidate will need to provide evidence that candidate can read, write, speak and understand English to a satisfactory level. English language requirements, for this course are normally a minimum of one of the below:

IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component or equivalent.
We accept a range of recognised English Language qualifications for entry.

These tests are amongst the language tests published and regularly updated by UK Border Agency for Tier 4 Student Visa purpose. Please contact our International Admissions Team if candidate are not sure if candidate's English language qualification is accepted for entry by BU.

If candidate have alternative evidence of English language proficiency (e.g. candidate have a different English language qualification, candidate received the majority of candidate's education through the medium of English, or candidate have a degree in English language/literature), please indicate this
