Subjects covered include soil mechanics, structural analysis and design, civil engineering materials, surveying, water engineering or environmental chemistry, ecology, chemical process technology, systems analysis and design. The program can include specialised electives from the University of Southern Queensland which is completed from UNE on a cross-institutional basis. On completion of the degree, graduates are eligible to apply for Engineering Technologist membership of Engineers Australia. As well, they can articulate to a four-year engineering degree at the University of Southern Queensland (or other postgraduate awards). Students can undertake their second and subsequent years of study either on a full-time internal or on a part-time external basis with an employer by way of an industry traineeship. The major completed will appear on the academic record and testamur. Entry RequirementsAssumed knowledge is Mathematics and a science subject. For students without the recommended background knowledge, the Faculty offers Foundation units in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. It is strongly recommended that these units be completed in preparation for university study in mathematics, chemistry and physics, if these units have not been studied at the appropriate HSC level. Other FeesOverseas examination fees Textbooks Incidental unit costs NotesThe program is designed to enable students to complete the second and third years on a part-time off-campus basis. Those students completing in this way will have the opportunity to apply their university studies in a work environment whilst using the skills of the work environment to enhance their university studies. 12 weeks of approved practical industry experience during university vacation periods. |
