The Master of Science in Digital Forensics prepares students for service in a variety of public and commercial arenas as digital forensics or network security professionals. In particular, graduates from the Digital Forensics program will be able to effectively plan, establish and administer security and information assurance systems in commercial settings and law enforcement. This program utilizes state of the art facilities, Sam Houston State University's Center of Excellence in Digital Forensics. The facility includes a Network Security Lab, accommodating training in data, network and cyber security intrusion detection, prevention and tracing, and a Data Recovery Lab that will provide training in the identification, recovery, and preservation of data for legal purposes.

This degree is accessible to students who have completed undergraduate Computer Science or Criminal Justice majors or minors and to those with baccalaureate degrees in technical fields with the equivalent of a Computer Science or Criminal Justice minor in formal coursework or professional experience. Applicants who do not possess the appropriate academic, technical or experiential backgrounds may be required to take stem work courses.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 and higher.

Official GRE scores may be requested to demonstrate graduate study readiness if the GPA is inordinately low.

For international applicants, you should submit TOEFL score if English is your second language.

Brookline College’s traditional and online digital forensics degree program is an extensive program that prepares students for entry-level positions and a rewarding career in digital forensics and investigations.

Each digital forensics course covers the same material whether you choose to complete the program in Tucson, AZ, or online. The classes are designed to provide students with a strong education in law enforcement concepts and theory and the technology behind the criminal justice and investigative processes.

Entry Requirements

In order to apply to Brookline College, it is our policy that a student must be a citizen of the United States or an eligible non-citizen as classified by the Department of Homeland Security.

In addition, applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of admission and posses a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent). If a prospective student is less than 18 years of age, they may be permitted to enroll if they obtain parent or legal gaurdian signature of approval or demonstrate that htey are otherwise covered under state emancipation statutes.

Non-immigrant Students

* Proof of English Language Proficiency

All non-immigrant student applicants must provide Brookline College with proof of English language skills to pursue enrollment with the College. Non-immigrant students can either: a) provide, in form of official transcripts successful completion of coursework from an accredited high school or English language school certified with SEVP, b) take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) test to determine their language skills in English and meet the minimum score requirements.

A minimum score of 550 on the paper-based and 84 on the internet-based TOEFL test is required as proof of proficiency in English. This test must be submitted directly from the testing organization to the campus, sent to the attention of the DSO, where the non-immigrant student is applying.

Unless the primary language of the non-immigrant student is English, and the College can confirm, then the student is not required to take the TOEFL test.

There is no limited amount of times a student can take a test. TOEFL test scores are valid for two (2) years after the test date. The official scores become part of the permanent student record once the student has enrolled with the College.

* Financial Affidavit or Proof of Financial Support

Non-immigrant students must provide proof of financial support or financial affidavit that tuition and living expense can be covered. The following are acceptable proofs:

Bank statements of letters from sponsors showing said evidence that tuition can be covered including living expenses for a minimum of one (1) year.
Completed financial affidavit signed by the prospective non-immigrant student and sponsor(s).

* Proof of High School or Secondary School Graduation

* Transfer of Credits from Postsecondary School

* Non-immigrant students requesting transfer of credits from a postsecondary school must have official transcript evaluated and translated (if applicable) from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE).

Computing and Security have extensive expertise in research, knowledge transfer (KT) and teaching in the areas of security and digital forensics. This includes externally funded research in key domains such as financial crime and intelligence gathering frameworks, through KT work with organisations such as Cisco Systems, DNS Ltd, the FSA, the Scottish Police (SIPR), Sapphire, Scottish Drug Enforcement Agency, and many others.

This course is also integrated with industry, with industry-led projects, and links with a wide range of local companies. You will have access to security research seminars with talks from senior industry professionals and state-of-the-art research in digital forensics, computer security, mobile systems and distributed computing.

Overall, the aim is to produce a world-leading programme with blended teaching material and support that builds on the existing foundation of research, KT activities and teaching in security and digital forensics.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirement for this course is a UK degree . We look for applicants to have a background in Professionals caring for the public in order to be eligible for the programme.
We may also consider lesser qualifications if you have sufficient relevant work experience within the industry.
If English is not your first language, it is usually required that you sit an English language test in order to gain entry onto our postgraduate programmes. This course requires the standard IELTS 6.0 with no individual component score of less than 5.5 or equivalent.
