The course is designed to give graduates a broad range of skills, ensuring good prospects to work in local, national or global companies. It provides the foundation and specialist skills and knowledge vital for a successful career in finance and to operate successfully within the business environment.

The course consists of three core subjects, four foundation subjects, eight specialisation subjects and nine electives. This allows the students the opportunity to study a range of subjects to suit their interests, such as financial management, accounting and management theory, financial planning, investments, funds management, international finance and finance law. It also offers the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in what actually happens in financial planning and management within an organisation, as part of a business placement program.

A principal advantage of the Bachelor of Business (Finance) is the opportunity to specialise in a second area - a Joint Study. You may opt to undertake a Joint Study relevant to your career aspirations with approval from the Course Director. Joint Study areas include accounting, banking, economics, information systems or management.

CSU's Bachelor of Business (Honours) offers high-achieving undergraduate students the opportunity for advanced study in the key discipline areas offered by the Faculty of Business.

The Bachelor of Business (Honours) will extend and enhance the skills and knowledge of outstanding students. It is offered for study following successful completion of undergraduate studies (achieved with a minimum Credit average).

Graduates gain a competitive edge in securing employment and career advancement through the acquisition of substantial theoretical and business-relevant research knowledge and skills, as well as the advanced skills necessary to continue into a research higher degree.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have obtained a degree in business or any double or combined degree from an Australian or approved overseas university that includes a major study in one of the specialised areas of business available for study through CSU. Students must also have achieved that degree at a minimum of credit level. Only in exceptional circumstances will this requirement be waived by the Faculty of Business, and this waiver must have the approval of the Dean.

CSU's Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) course allows students to develop a broad understanding and appreciation of the human resource function and the skills and knowledge required to manage an organisation's people to deliver on strategic goals.

The innovative structure and flexibility of the course offers an optimum blend of theory and practice, and effectively prepares students for careers in both the private and public sectors.

The structure of the course is designed to be flexible and yet incorporates a holistic approach that integrates and aligns various specialisations. It features a broad range of subjects that will equip students with both soft skills for working with people and the ability to design and implement strategies and policies that contribute towards organisational performance.

Beginning with subjects that provide the groundwork for an appreciation of all managerial functions within an organisation, the human resource function will be examined in detail before studying advanced subjects that offer a more strategic perspective to help shape an organisation or business through staff planning, job analysis and design, appraisal of staff performance and assessment of training needs. These will be complemented by other subjects that relate to the human resource function such as industrial relations, and legal and ethical issues in employment.

CSU and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) have jointly designed the Bachelor of Business (Insurance).

Admission to this specialisation is open to ANZIIF members who have completed an ANZIIF Diploma insurance qualification. Students must apply for this course through ANZIIF.

The degree combines the study of insurance specific subjects offered by ANZIIF with broader business and financial services subjects offered by CSU. It provides students with the opportunity to expand their qualification base, acknowledging their insurance expertise and supporting their career progression in the wider financial industry.

On completion, graduates will hold a CSU degree that is internationally recognised and provides access to postgraduate studies.
