Online Clinical Translational Research Degree :: Accredited Universities

The Master of Science in Health Science (MSHS) and Graduate Certificate in Clinical and Translational Research and the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research Practice provide high quality education to researcher professionals through the use of a creative and innovative online format. The program was developed as a component of the Clinical and Translational Science Award granted to Children’s National Health System and The George Washington University. It prepares graduates to meet the needs of a more “translational” approach to research. The curriculum includes a combination of courses focused on translational, interdisciplinary and health care research and leadership. Thus, the MSHS and Graduate Certificates will equip research professionals with the knowledge and skills to fill any number of clinical and translational research professions from funded scientist, clinical personnel, and those who mediate for better policy about health.

The Master of Science in Health Sciences (MSHS) in Clinical and Translational Microbiology is a 36 credit hour blended program (i.e. combination of online and face-to-face courses) that prepares graduates for careers in clinical microbiology laboratories; careers supporting infectious disease research efforts in universities, academic health centers, biotechnology firms and pharmaceutical companies; careers in public policy and non-governmental organizations; and positions involving prevention, control and eradication of infectious diseases both globally and within the United States.

The Translational Microbiology M.S.H.S. program brings together the expertise in medical laboratory science and microbiology education in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) to offer unique preparation for a career in the microbiological sciences. The program will prepare graduates for careers in clinical microbiology laboratories; supporting infectious disease research efforts in universities, academic health centers, biotechnology firms and pharmaceutical companies; public policy and non-governmental organizations; and positions involving prevention, control and eradication of infectious diseases both globally and within the United States. The program will also provide eligibility for graduates to take a national microbiology certification examination. The curriculum has been designed so that students can complete the entire program in two academic years and offers the flexibility of allowing students to enroll either on a full-time or part-time status. Completion of the online courses in the first year will be followed by on-campus courses in the microbiological sciences and an applied internship.
