Despite a new pathophysiological understanding of many headache disorders and the emergence of significant new treatments for headache over recent years, healthcare professionals remain undereducated and uncomfortable with diagnosing and treating primary headaches and headaches arising secondary to other medical conditions. The objective of the programme is to reduce the burden of headache disorders and improve the management of headache in primary care A holistic approach to care is central to this programme and will provide best practice for the diagnosis, management and delivery of a headache service, and would be particularly suited to healthcare professionals who want to improve their skills in this area. The University of Edinburgh can draw together unrivaled academic expertise in the form of the editorial faculty, and combined with the experience of the team currently offering the MSc in Pain Management, those undertaking the programme will become foci not only for better patient diagnosis and management of headache disorders, but also for teaching and advocacy. Entry RequirementsAn undergraduate degree, with an excellent or very good classification (equivalent to first or upper second class honours in the UK), in medicine, nursing, dentistry, psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, chiropody or other allied disciplines involved in the management of headache disorders, plus the relevant clinical experience.
