CGA MBA Admission Requirements

All candidates must be CGAs or senior CGA students in good standing with the Certified General Accountants Association. Through the provincial/territorial/regional CGA affiliate or international program office, an applicant must submit the following documentation:
• Completed Application for Admission form and a $60 application fee payable to Laurentian. This fee is non-refundable;
• A curriculum vitae outlining prior post secondary academic and professional education and a detailed description of work experiences, including description of duties, responsibilities, and accomplishments;
• Official transcripts for all post secondary education and a CGA professional studies transcript which will be provided by your regional association (Important notice: International transcripts must include the original transcript and the translated version. Laurentian University also requires proof of graduation with each international transcript (degree certificate in original language and translated version). An application with missing educational transcripts and proof of graduation will not be processed in the session applied for);
• Three letters of reference on a standardized form; and
• A letter of application (between 500 and 1000 words).

Admission to the MBA program is competitive and will be based on the Laurentian University Admission Committee’s relative rankings of applications. The Committee will review each application individually and assess each applicant’s own combination of prior education, work experience and unique strengths in determining the applicant’s ability to successfully undertake the MBA program.
Generally, the following admission requirements apply:
• Completion of Levels 1-4 of the CGA program or equivalent
• Minimum two years of work experience
• A recognized undergraduate degree or equivalent
• 70% or a B average in prior post secondary and professional education

Entry Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree program at a recognized university, with a grade of 70% (or equivalent) or better average in the last year of their program or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent) or better;
OR

Applicants who have not completed a recognized baccalaureate degree may be considered for admission of they can demonstrate a significant depth and breadth of business/management experience, or a combination of education and experience, to be successful in the MBA program. Applicants in this category of admission must:
Be over twenty-one (21) years of age on or before the first day of classes, and
Demonstrate at least five (5) years of professional or management experience with evidence of career progression and relevant education and/or training.

GMAT/GRE Requirement:
An acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or equivalent score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). The Admissions Committee will look for scores that indicate strengths in the verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing assessment portions of the exams. The score must be no more than five (5) years old.
Wavier of GMAT/GRE Requirement: Applicants may apply for a waiver of this requirement if they possess one or more of the following:
An appropriate professional designation (e.g., CA, CMA, CGA, CHRP, P.Eng.);
Completion of a graduate degree or higher credential at a recognized university; OR
A minimum of five (5) years documented professional or management experience with evidence of career progression and relevant education and/or training.
All applicants to the MBA program must submit:
A completed application form;
Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended;
Official documentation confirming professional designations, where applicable;
Two (2) letters of academic reference attesting to readiness for graduate studies; For those without recent academic experience, letters from employers attesting to management level experience and writing and analytical skills will be acceptable;
A detailed chronological résumé clearly outlining educational achievements, work experience and progression, and other related experience; and
A Letter of Intent (LOI) that clearly explains why the applicant is applying and outlines the student’s academic intentions.
Applicants who completed undergraduate studies outside Canada must also submit:
Documentation confirming their degree was awarded, if not already indicated on official transcripts;
A credential evaluation from a recognized service confirming equivalency if the applicant submits a credential from an unrecognized institution or if additional analysis is required by the Admissions Committee; and
Proof of English language proficiency.

English Language Proficiency for International Students
English is the language of instruction at University Canada West. If a student’s first language is not English, one of the following must be submitted:
English 12 or equivalent from a Canadian high school, with a grade of 65% or better
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 233 (computer-based test) or 86 (internet-based test)
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) overall score of 6.5 or better
LPI (Language Proficiency Index) score of 5 or better

King University’s online MBA program blends an intensive classroom case analysis with individual preparation and small group discussions. The MBA curriculum adopts and implements creative components such as a team-based learning model and provides a transformational learning experience for personal and professional skill development. The online MBA degree is a 36-hour program designed for students with limited work experience who seek to enhance their business administration knowledge and skills. Our online courses are the exact same courses as those delivered on campus.

Entry Requirements

Students applying for the MBA program must meet the following requirements:
1. A bachelor’s degree earned from a regionally accredited college or university.
2. Undergraduate coursework completed in the following disciplines: statistics, marketing, finance, economics, financial accounting and computer applications (recommended).
• Students who do not meet the above course requirements will be enrolled in BUSA 4890 Statistics, BUSA 4891 Economics, BUSA 4892 Accounting, BUSA 4893 Finance and BUSA 4894 Marketing in the appropriate semester of the program. Students must complete seminars prior to the start of the corresponding MBA course.
3. A minimum of a 3.0 (or better) GPA on a 4.0 scale on all prior academic work.
4. Students with less than a 3.0 GPA may be considered and accepted on a conditional basis provided they are able to demonstrate a significant rationale as to why they feel they will succeed in the King University MBA program.
5. Obtain and submit two letters of recommendation (preferably one from an employer and one from a previous college professor). When applying online, students may submit the recommenders’ names and email addresses to automate the process.
6. Submit a two to three page personal statement.
7. Submit most recent resume.
