The Master of Fine Art is a research degree. Candidates develop a studio research proposal that results in a body of creative or visual works with accompanying written and visual documentation. The documentation is a commentary that outlines the development of the project and its conclusion, and provides a critical context within which the work may be viewed and assessed.

The visual works are new works that demonstrate a conclusion to the research at the master's level. Works completed for other purposes, or before the candidacy, are not permitted for inclusion in the exhibition. Unless site-specific, the faculty requires master's examination exhibitions to be conducted on-campus.

Interdisciplinary studio projects will be considered on a case by case basis.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should hold an Australian bachelor degree with honours (Upper H2B (mark of 65 or above)) or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.

In special circumstances, the faculty may admit an applicant who does not meet these academic criteria. In such cases, the faculty will consider your qualifications, publications (including exhibitions) and experience in the proposed field of study. Such applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

All applications must be accompanied by 10 - 15 images of recent original work, clearly numbered with a corresponding list of details attached and a research proposal of 200-300 words.

This degree program balances and integrates the academic and studio requirements specific to fine art with general education requirements. The program is open to graduates of Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology (Ontario) and other applicants.

Entry Requirements

• Applicants to specific programs are required to fulfill program admission requirements.
• Upon reading suggested or required course requisites, applicants registering in Open Learning courses must determine if their level of education or experience is suitable to meet course prerequisites and be prepared to support this declaration, if required. Once registered, students are affirming they either meet course prerequisites or are taking responsibility for their enrolment in courses, as applicable. In doing so, students are acknowledging personal responsibility for their educational proficiency and performance in the courses they have enrolled in. Open Learning students wishing to take courses on campus may have to prove that they meet certain prerequisites.
• Applicants must have proficiency in English at a level suitable to the course or program of study for which they are applying. University-level courses require English proficiency equivalent to Grade 12 English or higher. • All persons are eligible for general admission to Open Learning and can apply for course registration as well as admission into credential programs. Differential fees and services may apply to applicants who are classified as international students as well as non-permanent residents of British Columbia.
• Applicants do not require a specific grade point average (GPA) and are not required to submit transcripts from secondary school to be admitted to TRU-OL and to register in courses.
• International students required to write their exams outside of Canada must submit a Statement of Presiding Supervisor form. Students are required to locate their own exam supervisor and once the student and supervisor have completed their portion of the form, it should be faxed or mailed to Open Learning.

MA Fine Art Digital at Camberwell College of Arts focuses on art that engages with, uses and is impacted by the digital. This course doesn’t focus on technology but presents it as a tool to facilitate ideas, placing emphasis upon its creative and artistic use. Our MA in Fine Art Digital is offered both as a studio based course and an online course.
