With a critical shortage of skilled managers in the agricultural sector, agribusiness companies and major banks are looking for employees skilled in business, management and finance, and who have technical agricultural training. There is also increasing demand for better trained managers of agricultural production enterprises.

CSU's Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management provides students with a strong foundation in agribusiness and the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in a variety of agricultural industries.The subjects provide balanced learning about agricultural production systems and managing agribusiness.

With a flexible approach to learning, the course allows students to choose to study full-time for three years on Orange or Wagga Wagga campuses, or six years part-time by distance education, or a mixture of both. This course is also available for full-time or part-time on campus study through C.Y. O'Connor Institute, located at the Muresk Institute in Western Australia.

CSU's Master of Agricultural Business Management aims to provide students with a well-developed understanding of issues in agricultural business by concurrently developing advanced, comprehensive skills in business, management and finance.

Graduates will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of specific interest areas, including agribusiness planning or agribusiness research. Graduates from the Master will be industry ready to enter senior management careers.

Entry Requirements

Applicants to the Master of Agricultural Business Management should hold at least:

A three-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent, related to agricultural science or agribusiness; or

An Honours level degee in an unrelated field; and/or

Relevant work experience of three years or more in agriculture or agribusiness systems, and they are primarily focused on developing their agricultural business management skills.

The Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma provide a pathway for recent graduates of a business or non-business degree, in a field such as Agricultural Science, Equine Science, Horticulture or Viticulture.

Life Cycle Management (LCM) is a recently introduced endorsement to the MAgriScience. The global push for solutions to major environmental problems, such as climate change, has resulted in an increased emphasis on the resource requirements (footprint) of consumer goods, including food and fibre products.

LCM encompasses a broad range of disciplines, including agribusiness, logistics and supply chain management, agricultural and horticultural systems and sustainable processing technologies. Research opportunities for postgraduate students include the environmental impact of primary production systems, resource use efficiency, environmental certification, trade policy and market access issues.

Entry Requirements

Admission to the Master of AgriScience (240 credits) is open to students who have completed one of the following minimum pre-requisites, at an appropriate level of academic achievement:

A Bachelor of AgriScience degree, or close equivalent, with a minimum B average in the majoring 300 level papers

A Bachelor of AgriScience degree, or close equivalent, with a major in the intended postgraduate subject;

A Bachelor of AgriScience degree, or close equivalent, followed by a Graduate Diploma of Science, a Graduate Diploma in Rural Studies or close equivalent in the intended postgraduate subject.
