The MEd in Secondary Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment aligns with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) professional standards. The CDE and CCHE recognize the high quality of JIU’s MEd preparation degrees and have designated JIU as a state-approved program of teacher and principal/administrator preparation. For most states, graduating from an approved program of preparation is an important step toward achieving educator licensure or certification. Entry RequirementsApplicants who are admitted into any master's degree program have met the following admission requirements: 1. International Applicants International applicants who are admitted into any graduate degree program have met the following admission requirements: 1. Completion of post-secondary education (bachelors degree); translated and evaluated to U.S. equivalency by an approved credential evaluator with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. - 3-year undergraduate degrees earned outside the U.S. are accepted if an approved credential evaluator declares the degree equivalent to an earned U.S. bachelors degree. 2. English Language Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate sufficient English language skills for admission into a JIU degree program by meeting one or more of the following criteria: - Test of English as a Foreign Language (link is external) (TOEFL®): Evidence of having scored at least 61 on the Internet-based Test (iBT™), 173 on the Computer-based Test (CBT), or 500 on the Paper-based Test (PBT). Results must be sent directly from the testing service by selecting JIU as the recipient along with entering our Designation Code (DI) of 7463, OR - International English Language Testing System (link is external) (IELTS): Reading and writing band scores must be 5.5 or higher with no band less than 5.0.
