The Online MS in Health Care Administration program has been designed to provide working health care professionals with the knowledge, skill sets, and abilities needed to be effective health care administrators and managers. Health care delivery is undergoing rapid growth and change in the U.S., a change that has accelerated in the 21st century. As a result, the responsibilities of health care administrators and managers are continuously being redefined. The Online MS in Health Care Administration program seeks to develop professionals who understand how to manage non-profit, for-profit, and voluntary health care organizations in effective and innovative ways and who can help health care organizations successfully meet the challenges of a rapidly changing environment. Students in the MS in Health Care Administration program acquire the analytical skills needed to explore new models of health care delivery and organizational design. They also develop the leadership skills needed to discover and implement creative solutions to problems in the current health care system.

The Health Care Leadership Alliance (HLA), a consortium of major professional health care associations, has identified five competency domains in which all health care administrators and managers should have proficiency for workplace effectiveness.

By successfully completing this program, students will be able to demonstrate competency in the following five domains:

- Communication and Relationship Management: The ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external customers, to establish and maintain relationships, and to facilitate constructive interactions with individuals and groups

- Leadership: The ability to inspire individual and organizational excellence, to create and attain a shared vision, and to successfully manage change to attain the organization's strategic ends and successful performance

- Professionalism: The ability to align personal and organizational conduct with ethical and professional standards that include a responsibility to the patient and community, a service orientation, and a commitment to lifelong learning and improvement

- Knowledge of the Health Care Environment: The demonstrated understanding of the health care system and the environment in which health care managers and providers function

- Business Skills and Knowledge: The ability to apply business principles to the health care environment; basic business principles include financial management, human resource management, organizational dynamics and governance, strategic planning and marketing, information management, risk management, and quality improvement

Entry Requirements

The MS-HCA degree program is open to applicants planning a career or advancing a career in the health care field who have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. Admission will be granted based upon the Admission Committee's overall assessment of the student's qualifications and academic/career potential, using the following criteria:

Cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.5;

Statement of Purpose in pursuing the HCA degree (a 1-2 page essay double-spaced, explaining who you are, your career goals and how the MS HCA degree will help you achieve those goals, and why you believe you will be successful in the program);

Two letters of academic and/or professional recommendation (on letterhead). The letter writers should include how they know you, if they think you would be successful in the program and why they think that;

Professional resume/vita;

All undergraduate/graduate transcripts. (These must be sent directly to University Admissions NOT the Department.)

All applicants must submit an online Graduate Admission application declaring Health Care Administration as a degree objective, and transcripts, at http://www.csumentor.edu along with a non-refundable fee. Entry Requirements

CCU sets test scores and grade point averages as our minimum level of acceptance for traditional undergraduate students. Normally, the minimum requirements for admission are:

2.8 High School GPA;
21 ACT composite scoreor1500 SAT score;
A strong spiritual recommendation; and
Application essay responses

Students who do not meet these minimum requirements are encouraged to apply and the University will consider their application under a committee review process which may include a personal interview. Factors such as essay content, recommendation content, and extracurricular activity all contribute to an individual admission decision.

International Student Requirements

As an international student, you must meet regular entrance requirements and follow standard application procedures. In addition, you will need to demonstrate the ability to understand college-level English. All non-native English speaking undergraduate students must achieve a minimum score of 550 or better on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

If you are admitted on a student visa you must be enrolled for at least twelve semester hours of credit. In order to work off campus, international students must meet with the International Student Coordinator at CCU to obtain permission from the United States Immigration authorities. International students may be eligible for institutional financial aid and awards, but are not eligible for federal financial aid.

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Care Administration provides students with a foundation of knowledge regarding the health care industry. The program prepares students to apply knowledge in a professionally, competent manner to advance in the field of health care as a leader or administrator. Emphasis is placed on building strong communication skills and organizational competence in managing and developing professional standards, procedures, and policies for various institutional health care activities. These leaders should be well organized and attentive to detail. The BS in Health Care Administration does not offer a clinical or infield experience component. Its purpose is to provide a broad educational background to those already working in the health care field.

Entry Requirements

To be considered for unconditional admission to an undergraduate program, applicants must submit the following:

- A complete application

- Evidence of high school completion, or equivalent. Applicants may self-certify on the CSU application for admission and provide evidence of graduation from an approved high school program, or the equivalent, deemed acceptable to CSU. Acceptable evidence includes a copy of the high school transcript indicating the date of high school graduation, a GED certificate or score sheet indicating state required passing scores, a DD-214 indicating successful completion of high school or an
official post-secondary transcript indicating the date of graduation from an approved high school program.

- Official transcripts from previously attended post-secondary institutions, if applicable.

- If you are utilizing Federal Student Aid (FSA), you must submit an official high school transcript or GED and all official transcripts from previously attended post-secondary institutions. To be eligible to receive FSA to attend CSU, applicants must be unconditionally admitted to the University and meet all other FSA eligibility requirements.

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Health Care Administration program is offered fully online and is designed to help students achieve their academic and career goals on their schedule. The online courses mimic the on-campus atmosphere by providing students with a learning environment in which they can collaborate and interact with the professor and their peers.

At 40 credit hours, the online healthcare administration degree is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to become leaders in any health care field.
