You'll gain an in-depth understanding of the theoretical knowledge and practical skills you need to practice at an advanced level, as well as the ability to critically appraise relevant health and social policy.
You'll also acquire the knowledge and skills you need to address ethical and professional issues, and the ability to apply current scientific knowledge to initiate change and improve care for infants and families, as well as identifying potential areas for nursing research in clinical practice. You'll develop a combination of theoretical and practical skills in this course, including critical thinking when considering the issues associated with practice, knowledge and application of research methods and their application, and efficient approaches to time management, prioritisation and workload planning. You will also learn to recognise and manage the personal stresses of the profession, and become proficient in the use of the latest technologies in the practice of your role. Entry RequirementsTo apply, you must be a Registered General Nurse or Registered Sick Children's Nurse, Registered Nurse (Child Health) or Registered Midwife with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Candidates must be able to show evidence of a specific neonatal education course independent of the pre-registration programme, and have a minimum of three years' experience in a neonatal intensive care environment. Candidates must have an Honours degree or a postgraduate diploma or a professional qualification recognised as being equivalent to an honours degree, and have the support, in writing, of their nursing/midwifery manager to undertake the course.
